Doctor Who 50th anniversary special to be shown around the world at the same time
THE upcoming anniversary special of Doctor Who is going to be shown in over 200 countries it's been revealed.
Global broadcasters have agreed to a "simulcast" as they don't want the one off special to be ruined for fans across the world.
The BBC1 show will be shown in the UK on November 23 at 8pm and therefore will be shown at midday in Los Angeles and at 7am in Sydney.
"The 50th anniversary special is a massive deal for fans around the world who were petrified the secrets would leak online the moment it aired in Britain," an insider said.
The one-off episode, which stars previous Doctor David Tennant and his companion Billie Piper, is expected to be watched by more than 100million viewers in over 200 countries.
It will be an exciting, yet sad time, for fans of the hit TV show, as Smith will make his departure one month after it is shown.
The 30-year-old actor revealed that he would be leaving Doctor Who at Christmas, and his successor is expected to be announced next month.
"It's always been our ambition to work with our broadcast partners so that international Doctor Who fans can enjoy the 50th Anniversary special at the same time as the UK," said a BBC Worldwide spokesman.
"We'll have more details soon about our very exciting global plans for November."
